We had a few events this summer that gave a mini-preview of the new play Sorin: A Notre Dame Story. The play is part of the celebration of Notre Dame at 175 years. Wow! 175! Notre Dame, you don’t look a day over 150! Anyways, the play, made by Notre Dame alums, centers around the life of Notre Dame founder Edward Sorin and will have its premiere run in our own Decio Mainstage Theatre!
Performances are scheduled throughout the semester to coincide with home football games. The premiere on August 30th will be for Holy Cross priests and will have a special start time of 6:42 PM. Why?…well, because 6:42 PM is 18:42 in military time, 1842 being the year Notre Dame was founded. There you go!
The rest of the shows will have a normal start time. Every Thursday before a home game weekend will have a special showing for Advisory Council members and VIP guests. These shows will start at 7 PM. There are a few home gameFriday performances open to the public: September 8th , October 20th and November 17th. These will be at 7:30 PM as to give people time to get here after the pep rally.
We’re expecting solid crowds for all of these and looking forward to being the main home for the show this semester. Next year they’re taking the show on the road to cities across the United States.
The website for the show is up and has some info on the talent behind the play. Check it out at:
