Notre Dame student Samantha Squeri is undertaking quite the ambitious thesis. She’s putting on a musical! The Last Five Years will be performed in the Philbin on December 2nd and 3rd. The shows are sold out, but spots are still available for the shift on December 3rd. Written and composed by Jason Robert Brown. Directed and produced by Samantha , Squeri ‘17. Starring Elizabeth Buckman as Cathy and Albert Olzsewski as Jamie.
The Last Five Years is the musical story of a man and a woman who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. This production is presented as part of a FTT senior thesis exploring the role of gender in theatre and its impact on audience perception. It will include the full show with the traditional casting followed by excerpts from the show with gender-inverted casting, as well as brief audience surveys.
