TIP OF THE WEEK: MET Opera Perks Changes

570x300_metThe MET Operas have started up again this month and we want to let you know of some changes to the Usher Perks for these screenings. Previously many of the Operas had encores in the same season and you had access to comp tickets to these. The Operas this season do not have encores so they are only being shown once. Adding to this is that we’ve gotten word that the theatres in town are no longer showing the Operas, so attendance at the Browning will increase. We have already noticed this increase in sales for the Opera that was screened on October 3rd.

The new policy is as follows: any usher can get two free tickets for any MET Opera but only at the Ticket Office on the day of the Opera and also only if the ticket sales are not approaching sold out. This will be at Ticket Office’s discretion, but the general guideline is if the house is under 90% sold. For all screenings Ticket Office will open 1 hour prior to show time.

Before coming down for an Opera, please feel free to call the ticket office beforehand at 574-631-2800 to see how ticket sales are doing so you can gauge whether you’d be able to get comp tickets.

TIP OF THE WEEK: Reyes Organ Hall Call Times

Organ-LessonsIn November we will be instituting a new policy for Reyes Organ Hall performances. The call times will now be only 45 minutes before the performance start time (as opposed to the 1 hour prior call time we have been doing). We determined that these performances don’t require that much time to brief the ushers so 45 minutes prior will work, much like it does for any Browning screening shift. The first performance that has this in effect will be the November 8th Guest Organist- Christopher Young performances. You’ll see that the call time is for 1:45 PM for the 2:30 PM show, and 4:15 PM for the 5:00 PM show.

Please also note that if you are signed up for next week’s October 13th Schola Musicorum to still come at 8:00 PM, which is 1 hour prior. Thanks!

FTT Presents ND Theatre NOW! Wildflower

We look forward to seeing many of you at this over the next week:
Notre Dame Film, Television, and Theatre presents
ND Theatre NOW!
by Lila Rose Kaplan
directed by senior FTT theatre major Anthony Murphy
Seeking a fresh start, a thirtysomething single mother arrives with her son – an awkward teenager and botany enthusiast – in Crested Butte, Colorado, home of the Wildflower Festival.  Over the course of one turbulent summer, their lives become entwined with those of a local forest ranger, a precocious teenaged girl, and a retired drag queen.  A contemporary coming-of–age story, Wildflower asks – when does something beautiful become dangerous?  What are the consequences of desire?
Thursday, October 1 – Saturday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, October 7 – Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 4 & Sunday, October 11 at 2:30 p.m.
